Yeah. I could probably be a probender, or an actor, or something, if I lived in a mansion in Republic City like you guys. You don’t know what it’s like here on the streets. You gotta be tough.
just saw a political bashing commercial with the tagline
"rick scott: just too shady for the sunshine state."

Laughter. Horrified laughter.
oh god you still haunt my dreams
That should not be as funny as it is.
Oh my goodness, I had erased this from my mind. I want my selective memory back!
“I DON’T CARE!” Harry yelled at them, snatching up a lunascope and throwing it into the fireplace. “I’VE HAD ENOUGH, I’VE SEEN ENOUGH, I WANT OUT, I WANT IT TO END, I DON’T CARE ANYMORE!”
"You do care," said Dumbledore. He had not flinched or made a single move to stop Harry demolishing his office. His expression was calm, almost detached. "You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it.”

Confession: I wish that there were more “middle of the road” mages and templars like Wynne and Alistair. Hearing how Wynne actually enjoyed circle life, and understood that the templars were a necessity, and how Alistair isn’t some crazy mage bludgeoning templar, even after being raised in the chantry makes me believe that they were real characters, instead of metaphors for each end of the perspective spectrum, like Anders and Fenris.
I’m not sure “enjoyed” is the right word for Wynne’s experience. I think she made peace with it and tried to make the best of her situation, and accepted the idea that her powers came with a very heavy burden.
Before she arrived in the circle, she was a foster child, and she recognizes she might have been beaten or killed accidentally setting another child’s hair on fire. She didn’t like the Circle at all when she was young. She says that it felt like her life was over, and she’d never have the opportunities non-mages have, to travel, to have a family, to make friends.
She learned to live with it and found what good she can out of it, and that there were worse things for her than living in the Circle.
And always remember, not a day went by that she did not think of the son that was taken from her, and she had to live for years thinking the templars had killed her fourteen year old student.
Imagine living with that stuff for decades, the wrongful death of a child you were responsible for, and never knowing what happened to your own baby after it was taken from you without even so much as having a few minutes to say goodbye.
I’m not sure Wynne was happy. I think Wynne was content. If she hadn’t managed to find that peace, she would have been miserable.
